A Humbling Verse of Scripture

Many people, in regards to words like predestinedforeknowledge, or election, will all too often say:

God knew who would believe & then chose those individuals for salvation.

God looked into the future & saw who would believe & then he predestined them.

But this turns the Biblical order of salvation on it’s head. This a complete reversal of what is revealed in Scripture. Consider this:

Acts 13:28 – And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word  of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. (underlining added for emphasis)

This order is clear: God appoints to eternal life & we believe as a response.

Today, regardless of where you are in your walk – cloud nine from spiritual victories or deep pits because of spiritual failures – let the words of Acts 13:48 humble & encourage you. You are fighting for faith because you were appointed by God to believe.

Our chose to love Jesus is always a response of His chose to love us.
